Privacy Policy

1. General information

A variety of personal data is collected and processed when you use this website. Personal data means data with which you can be personally identified.

The operators of this website take the protection of your personal information very seriously. We handle your personal details confidentially and in accordance with statutory data protection regulations and this Privacy Policy.

By using this website, you consent to the collection and processing of your personal data at home and abroad as described in this Privacy Policy.

The Privacy Policy published on this website at the time of use applies to the use of the website.
If you wish to enter into special contractual agreements with us regarding data protection in relation to our offered products and services, please contact us separately at the address specified in section 2 below.

2. Who is responsible for data collection on this website?

Data processing on this website is performed by the website operator.

Swiss Federal Office of Energy (SFOE)

e-mail: alliance@bfe.admin.ch

If you have any questions or concerns relating to data protection, you can contact us at any time at this address.

3. How do we collect your data?

On the one hand, your data is collected by you providing it to us. This may constitute, for example, data that you enter in a contact form.
On the other hand, data is also automatically collected by our IT systems when the website is visited. This relates above all to technical data (for example internet browser, operating system or time of the website visit). Please refer to the description under section 7 below for details about the technical collection and use of data by cookies, analysis tools and third-party plug-ins.

If you use the contact form to submit an enquiry to us, we shall store your details from the enquiry form, including the contact details you have provided therein, for the purpose of processing the enquiry and in the event of follow-up enquiries. If you provide us with personal data from third parties, please ensure that the person concerned has consented to this.

The data entered by you in the contact form shall be retained by us until this is deleted, your consent for storage is withdrawn or the purpose of the data storage has lapsed (e.g. once the processing of your enquiry has been completed).

Mandatory statutory provisions – in particular retention periods – remain unaffected by this.

4. What do we use your data for?

We use your data exclusively for the purposes described in this Privacy Policy, namely to market and provide products or services, to answer your enquiries via the contact form or to send you the newsletters you have ordered. Part of the data is collected in order to ensure that the website is provided without error. The data created when using the website may also be used to analyse your user behaviour. Please refer to the description under section 7 below for details about the technical collection and use of data by cookies, analysis tools and third-party plug-ins.

5. What rights to your data do you have?

5.1 Data subject rights

Within the context of the applicable statutory provisions, you have the right at any time to receive information free of charge about your stored personal data, its origin and recipients and the purpose of the data processing, and if necessary the right to correct, block or erase this data.

5.2 Right to complain

Furthermore, in the event of violations of data protection law, you have the right to take legal action as well as the right to lodge a complaint with the competent supervisory authority.
The competent supervisory authority for data protection in
Switzerland is the Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner (FDPIC).

5.3 Revocation of consent

Certain data processing procedures are possible only with your express consent. You may revoke consent that has already been given at any time. An informal e-mail sent to us will suffice.

6. Technical and organisational measures

This website uses SSL or TLS encryption for reasons of security and to protect the transfer of confidential content, such as for example orders or enquiries you submit to us as the operators of the website. An encrypted link can be identified by the fact that the browser address line switches from “http://” to “https://” and the padlock symbol appears in your browser line.

When SSL or TLS encryption is activated, the data you transfer to us cannot be read by third parties.

However, we draw your attention to the fact that the transfer of data over the internet (e.g. when communicating by e-mail) may be subject to security loopholes. The seamless protection of data from third-party access is not possible.

7. Cookies, analysis tools and plug-ins of third-party providers

When visiting our website, personal data as well as your surfing behaviour may be statistically analysed by third-party providers abroad. This is done above all with cookies and with so-called “analysis programs” and “plug-ins”.

In some cases, you can prevent such data collection and processing by means of technical settings. Please note, however, that in this case some of the functions of the website cannot be fully used.

7.1 Cookies

The websites sometimes use so-called “cookies”. Cookies do not cause any damage to your computer and do not contain any viruses. Cookies serve to make our services more user-friendly, effective and secure. Cookies are small text files that are deposited on your computer and stored by your browser.

Most of the cookies used by us are so-called “session cookies”. These are automatically deleted at the end of your visit. Other cookies remain stored on your device until you delete them. These cookies enable us to recognise your browser next time you visit.

You can set your browser in order to be notified about the placement of cookies, and can permit the acceptance of cookies only on a case-by-case basis or can generally exclude this, and can also activate the automatic deletion of cookies when the browser closes. If cookies are deactivated, the functions of this website may be restricted.

Cookies that are required to perform electronic communications or to provide certain functions desired by you (e.g. shopping basket function) are stored. The website operator has a legitimate interest in storing cookies for the technically faultless and optimised provision of its services. Insofar as other cookies (e.g. cookies to analyse your surfing behaviour) are stored, these are detailed separately in this Privacy Policy.

7.2 Server logfiles

The website provider automatically collects and stores information in so-called “server logfiles” that your browser automatically transfers to us. These are:

  • browser type and browser version
  • operating system utilised
  • referrer URL
  • host name of the accessing computer
  • time of the server enquiry,
  • IP address

This data is not merged with other data sources.

The website operator has a legitimate interest in the technically error-free presentation and optimisation of its website – for this purpose, the server logfiles need to be recorded.

7.3 Google Analytics

This website uses functions of the web analysis service Google Analytics. The provider is Google Inc., 1600 Amphitheatre Parkway, Mountain View, CA 94043, USA.

Google Analytics uses so-called “cookies”. These are text files that are stored on your computer and facilitate analyses of your use of the website. As a rule, information about your use of this website generated by the cookie will be forwarded to a Google server in the USA, where it will be stored.

The website operator has a legitimate interest in analysing user behaviour, in order to optimise both its web services as well as its advertising.

7.3.1 IP Anonymisation

We have activated the IP anonymisation function on this website. This means your IP address will be abbreviated by Google within the member states of the European Union or in other European Economic Area treaty states before being transmitted to the USA. The full IP address will be forwarded to a Google server in the USA only in exceptional cases, where it will be truncated. On behalf of the operator of this website, Google will use this information to evaluate your use of the website, to compile reports on website activity and to provide other services related to website usage and internet usage. The IP address forwarded by your browser within the context of Google Analytics will not be merged by Google with other data.

7.3.2 Google browser plug-in

You can prevent the storage of cookies by setting your browser software accordingly; however, we point out that in this event you may not be able to fully utilise all the functions of this website. You may furthermore prevent the recording of the data generated by the cookie that relates to your use of the website (incl. your IP address) by Google as well as the processing of this data by Google by downloading and installing the browser plug-in from the following link: https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout?hl=de.

7.3.3 Objection to this data collection

You can prevent Google Analytics collecting your data by clicking on the following link. An opt-out cookie will be installed that prevents your data being collected during future visits to this website: Deactivate Google Analytics.

Further information about the handling of user data by Google Analytics is available in the Google privacy policy: https://support.google.com/analytics/answer/6004245?hl=de.

7.3.4 Contract data processing

We have concluded the standard data processing agreement with Google that is published on their website, in which Google guarantees compliance with European data protection regulations.

7.3.5 Demographic characteristics at Google Analytics

This website uses the “demographic characteristics” function of Google Analytics. This enables reports to be created that contain statements about the age, gender and interests of the site visitors. This data comes from interest-based advertising from Google and visitor data from third-party providers. This data cannot be attributed to a specific person. You can deactivate this function at any time via the ad settings in your Google account or generally prohibit the collection of your data by Google Analytics as shown in section 7.3.3. “Objection to this data collection”.

7.4 Google web fonts

This website uses so-called “web fonts” provided by Google to ensure the consistent presentation of typefaces. When a website is accessed, your browser loads the required web fonts in your browser cache, in order to present text and typefaces correctly.

For this purpose, the browser used by you needs to establish a link to Google servers. This process informs Google that our website has been accessed via your IP address. Google web fonts are used to present our online services in a standardised and attractive form. This constitutes a legitimate interest within the meaning of Art. 6 Para. 1 lit. f GDPR.

If your browser does not support web fonts, your computer will use a standard font.

Further information about Google web fonts is available under https://developers.google.com/fonts/faq and in the Google privacy policy: https://www.google.com/policies/privacy/.

7.5 Google Maps

This website uses the map service Google Maps via an API. The provider is Google Inc., 1600 Amphitheatre Parkway, Mountain View, CA 94043, USA.

It is necessary to store your IP address in order to use the functions of Google Maps. As a rule, this information is transferred to a Google server in the USA and is stored there. The provider of this website has no influence over this data transfer.

The Google Maps service is used in the interest of an attractive presentation of our online services and to make it easier to find the sites indicated on the website. This constitutes a legitimate interest within the meaning of Art. 6 Para. 1 lit. f GDPR.

Further information about the handling of user data is available in the Google privacy policy: https://www.google.de/intl/de/policies/privacy/.
