IKEA AG

Measure

Voluntary measures to reduce IKEA AG’s energy consumption by around 5%

Description of the measure

  • Temperature reductions in all stores, offices, and warehouses by 1 to 2 degrees. Further reductions are possible once enough warm clothing is available for staff.

  • All non-security lighting such as store entrances and exits, advertising hoardings and IKEA logos will be switched off 30 mins after closing time until opening time.

  • No Christmas lights on IKEA buildings.

  • Moderation of server room cooling.

Description of the intended effect

These initial measures are expected to save around 5% of IKEA’s energy requirements in Switzerland. In addition, IKEA AG has set up an internal task force that will continuously evaluate further developments and coordinate further measures at a national level.
